The sunlight in Maine is clear and beautiful, even in the winter. Since we have so few hours of it, every moment seems precious. I love the violet shadows lying in bands across the snow. I love light refracted through ice lacing branches, like diamonds scattered through the trees.
Other times I enjoy the vibrant bands of fluorescent colors that end each day.
And I find myself, again, dreaming of when I can do the same on a beach this summer. This painting is headed off to its new home, where it can remind it's new owner of a beach we both love in northern Michigan. This shows cousins enjoying the endless days of summer beside the lake.
